JS Conservation Management and Town Planning is specifically targeted to working with only the public and volunteer sectors ensuring that there are no conflicts of interest with the private sector. Based in Leeds, however with the flexibility to travel around the UK, along with qualified sub-consultants, JS Conservation Management and Town Planning Ltd can provide professional and efficient services to assist with your town planning and historic environment needs. JS Conservation Management also has contact with and subcontract a number of other staff in the following fields to assist with projects:-

John Somers owns and operates JS Conservation Management & Town Planning limited and has 12 years experience in Town Planning and Historic Building Conservation. From a predominantly local government background, John has a wealth of knowledge in all areas of development management, planning policy and historic building conservation. John has a particular interest in industrial buildings, preventative maintenance, heritage at risk, ecclesiastical buildings, railway infrastructure and public houses. John has been involved with all stages of the Local Plan process, neighbourhood planning; the processing of planning applications and giving advice as part of the development management process. John has written a number of Conservation Management Plans to support Heritage Lottery grant bids; Conservation Area reviews and statements; options appraisals; Building Recording; Local Listed Building Reviews, Conservation Area assessment and review; Heritage at Risk Assessments; and Statements of Significance. Philippa Carr, Director

Research and Community Engagement Consultant

BSc. Sociology, Public Policy and Management

Philippa is currently undertaking a PhD in Psychology by Research and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in public policy, community engagement, community participation and research methods. Philippa can assist with the development of public consultation strategies, training, community engagement, community projects, fundraising and grant applications.
